Job Title: Medical Surgical RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1-2 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS (within 12 months of hire) Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Travel experience preferred Description: Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of the Nursing Process for patients in various age groups, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Documents thoroughly as care is delivered, following regulatory and hospital requirements. Assumes responsibility for clinical competencies and professional development of self and others. Practices in a clinical environment through application of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Ability to work varied shifts and/or days, including weekends and holidays is essential. Utilizes good judgment, demonstrates patience, and implements best practices for patient care as expected. Maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Works in a busy, stressful environment where practice changes to meet new patient safety requirements, goals, or objectives. Possesses computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical records software. Demonstrates organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage workload expectations. Exhibits strong interpersonal communication and advanced math skills. Engages in creativity, problem analysis, teamwork, and decision-making. Additional Details: Patient ratios: 1:6. Must float as long as competencies are met. Clinical caseload includes a range of patient diagnoses, including sepsis, respiratory failure, COPD, trauma, and diabetes. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary support teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. Required skills include managing ports, blood product administration, and pre/post-operative care. Maintains competencies in various clinical procedures, such as tracheostomy management and wound care.
