Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years preferred License: State or Compact license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Travel experience preferred Experience with Epic charting system Description: Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of the Nursing Process for patients across various age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Documents thoroughly as care is delivered, adhering to regulatory and hospital requirements. Assumes responsibility for clinical competencies and professional development of self and others. Practices in a clinical environment through the application of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Ability to work varied shifts and/or days including weekends and holidays. Utilizes good judgment, demonstrates patience, and adheres to best practices for patient care as expected by department leaders. Maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Works in a busy and stressful environment where practice changes to meet new patient safety requirements, goals, or objectives. Possesses computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical records software. Exhibits organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage workload expectations. Demonstrates interpersonal verbal communication and advanced math skills. Embodies creativity, problem analysis, teamwork, and decision-making capabilities. Staffing and Scheduling: Patient ratios for days and nights are 1:6. Weekend shifts required, with flexibility based on department needs. Pre-approved time off must be outlined. Patient Care: Serves adults and geriatrics primarily. Daily census is approximately 48 patients. Patient conditions include sepsis, confusion, respiratory failure, cardiac conditions, and more. Collaborates with interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams. Essential Skills: Accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and more. Experience with central line blood draw, feeding tube care, arterial blood gas interpretation, and wound care management. Management of various medical conditions such as post-operative care, renal failure, and traumatic injuries. Ability to ensure patient safety and collaborate with other healthcare professionals for optimal patient outcomes.
