Job Title: Medical Surgical RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: - Strong knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to effectively respond to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors - Some computer skills Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physician in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and observes physiological manifestations, intervening when necessary. Administers medications as prescribed and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently and interacts with patients and families to share care plans. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures and makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
