Job Summary

Join our dedicated nursing team as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse at MVHS-Wynn, located on the 6th Floor in Utica, New York. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality care within a dynamic hospital environment, focusing on adult patient populations.

The primary patient population includes adults requiring post-surgical care, with common diagnoses such as abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and morbid obesity (including bariatric surgery patients). You will be an integral part of a team committed to patient recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive direct patient care for adult medical-surgical patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans for a diverse adult population, including post-surgical patients.
• Manage patients with common diagnoses such as abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and those undergoing bariatric surgery.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, utilizing equipment such as IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Float to other medical-surgical units or areas as needed, based on facility requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
• Prior travel nursing experience is required.

Skills & Competencies

• Clinical Skills: Proficient in post-surgical patient care, wound care, pain management, and managing patients with diagnoses including abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery.
• Equipment: Competent in the use and management of IV pumps, Nasogastric (N/G) tubes, and feeding tubes.
• EMR Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Record system.

Shift Details

• Shift: 12-hour AM shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM.
• Days per week: 3 days per week.
• Contract Length: 13 weeks.
• Start Date: November 30, 2026.
• End Date: February 27, 2027.

Licensing Requirements

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
