Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment on the Medical-Surgical 6th Floor at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and post-surgical conditions.

The patient population primarily includes individuals recovering from surgery, presenting with diagnoses such as abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and morbid obesity requiring bariatric surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing patient care, utilizing specialized equipment, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Adherence to facility dress code, including navy blue scrubs, is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for efficacy and adverse reactions.
• Manage post-surgical patient care, including wound care, pain management, and monitoring for complications.
• Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment such as IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide critical care interventions as needed.
• Float to other units within the facility as required by staffing needs.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in a Medical-Surgical (MS) unit.
• Prior travel nursing experience is required.
• Demonstrated experience caring for adult patient populations with diverse medical and post-surgical conditions.
