**Job Description:**

- As an AK TDY Registered Nurse, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of compassionate and quality healthcare.
- Responsible for assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Direct and coordinate nursing care based on established nursing practice standards.
- Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to provide cost-effective and efficient care ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for team members in challenging situations.
- Deliver patient care while considering age-specific needs and cultural diversity.
- Care for a diverse patient population, including post-surgical and behavioral health patients, from birth to elderly.
- Conduct initial assessments and 24-hour re-assessments with attention to detail.
**Position Qualifications:**
- Minimum Education: Graduate from an NLN approved nursing program.
- Experience: Open to new graduates; however, minimum 3 years is preferred for this position.
- License, Certification, Registration:
- Must hold a valid and active Registered Professional Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Successful candidates must pass and maintain competencies for the role.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is preferred.
**Essential Skills and Abilities:**
- Proficient in oral and written communication.
- Solid understanding of nursing practices as per Alaska State regulations.
- Flexible and capable of independent actions within prescribed limits.
- Implement the nursing process effectively in patient care.
- Administer treatments, medications, and interpret diagnostic tests accurately.
- Ability to educate patients, families, and significant others.
- Experience managing behavioral health patients and applying therapeutic communication.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced patient care setting.
**Mathematical and Reasoning Skills:**
- Competent in basic arithmetic — adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret data.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address various challenges encountered in care delivery.
**Supervisory Responsibilities:**
- Collaborate with unit secretaries and PCTs alongside the Charge Nurse to foster a supportive team environment.
