The team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical, and outpatient services. Locals enjoy weekly farmers markets, farm-to-fork dining, beautiful landscapes for hiking and biking, and beach days just fifteen minutes away. Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care. Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the health care team. This position is represented by a union. Education and Work Experience: Graduate of a school of nursing is required. One year recent acute care RN experience is required. Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor is required. Essential Functions: Assure patients' personal needs are met. Assist in reducing noise levels of the nursing unit. Show a commitment to co-workers. Work as a team to meet all patient needs. Maintain patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy. Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Deliver a clear, concise report. Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed. Follow infection control guidelines. Obtain history/physical assessments according to unit-specific nursing protocols for all age groups. Review medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data. Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report it to the appropriate person. Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner. Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in emergency situations. Accurately administer and chart medications according to hospital policies and procedures. Implement and/or assist others in the implementation and documentation of planned education. Assess patients' educational needs. Assist in the development and education of new staff members. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Complete education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills. Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow. Assure all patient charge items are documented correctly. Utilize department resources appropriately. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
