Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical care for a 13-week contract assignment in Gardner, Massachusetts. This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care within a dynamic healthcare environment, focusing on the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse patient population, including those recovering from surgical procedures, and will play a crucial role in patient education, discharge planning, and ensuring continuity of care. This position requires a commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and collaborative teamwork.
This is a full-time contract position, working 8-hour PM shifts, five days per week, with a start time of 3:00 PM and an end time of 11:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and reassessments, developing and evaluating individualized plans of care.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapy safely and accurately according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Provide effective pain management, including assessment, intervention, and ongoing evaluation of patient response.
- Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication reconciliation, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure integrated services and continuity of patient care.
- Prioritize patient care needs, delegate tasks appropriately, and supervise nursing interventions performed by others.
- Maintain thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, interventions, and patient responses.
- Identify and mitigate risks to patient safety, proactively reporting errors and incidents.
- Interpret and document patient cardiac rate, rhythm, and configuration (PR ST segment), initiating appropriate treatment plans.
- Manage and troubleshoot various medical equipment, including traction/orthopedic devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes, and drains.
- Promote professional growth through continuous learning and participation in professional development programs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Telemetry nursing.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Pediatrics.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Licensing Requirements
- Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts (MA).
