Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,308 per week in Galesburg, IL

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 22 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active Illinois license Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Understanding of a drug-free workplace Description: The unit consists of 37 beds, including a combination of private and semi-private rooms. Patient ratios are 1:4-6 during the day shift and 1:5-6 during the night shift. Nurse aides are available with a ratio of 1:10-15. The facility utilizes an electronic medical record system. Charge nurses are usually available 24/7 and may take patient assignments as needed. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend for both day and night shifts. Holidays may require working every other holiday depending on the schedule. There is no specific scrub color; approved facility logo gear may also be worn. Patients requiring telemetry will be monitored by a central monitor technician, who will call events to the nurse. Common medications include Lasix and Heparin drips, while vents are not present in the unit. BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow patients are admitted. Multiple hospitalists are available in-house during the day, and coverage is provided by advanced practice nurses during the night. An e-Pharmacist is available for overnight medication needs. Shifts are primarily 12 hours, running from 7 AM to 7:30 PM and 7 PM to 7:30 AM. Self-scheduling is available, but scheduling will be managed by the unit manager due to short contract terms. Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible while meeting the required weekend schedule. Floating to other floors may occur if the clinician has the necessary competency. When floating, a full patient assignment will be taken. Orientation consists of two days in the department and one day of hospital/EMR training. Common patient diagnoses include COPD, sepsis, stroke, COVID-19, pneumonia, and various surgical procedures.
