Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,308 per week in Peoria, IL

Job Title: RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical Acute Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year(s) License: Active Illinois RN license required Certifications: BLS certification required; ACLS preferred for Charge RN position Must-Have: Minimum of 1 year of hospital experience preferred Description: The unit features 18 beds, mostly private rooms, except for one semi-private. Nurse to patient ratios are 4-5:1 during the day shifts and 5-6:1 during night shifts. The unit serves general medical patients with various diagnoses. Registered Nurses are required to titrate heparin drips. There is 24-hour Charge RN coverage, with the potential for charge nurses to have patient assignments. Two Patient Care Technicians are available per shift, with a ratio of 9:1 when the unit is full. Patients may require oxygen support up to 6 liters via nasal cannula and stable use of BiPAP or CPAP as needed. Telemetry is monitored remotely by a dedicated department; Registered Nurses will not be responsible for reading strips. There is a unit clerk available 24 hours a day. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, with regular report times at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Traveling Registered Nurses are expected to work every other weekend and participate in rotating holiday shifts. Call is not required, but floating to other units may be necessary. Staff members are required to provide their own scrubs, with no pediatric scrubs permitted. Traveling Registered Nurses typically undergo one 12-hour shift of orientation with a unit preceptor. In-house support includes hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7. Registered Nurses are expected to attempt IV starts and utilize unit resources if unsuccessful; there is an inpatient phlebotomy team available for blood draws. Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are available 24/7.
