Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,326 per week in Peoria, IL

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 15 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active Illinois RN license Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Ability to produce a negative drug screen Description: Unit has a total of 29 beds. The typical patient census ranges from 22 to 26, with a target census of 25. Rooms are a mixture of private and semi-private. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 4-5:1 during the day and 5-6:1 during the night. RNs are responsible for managing a variety of medical diagnoses, such as GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, and DVT. Patients may also transfer to and from the unit for surgeries or procedures. RNs are required to titrate Heparin drip. There is 24-hour Charge RN coverage, and the goal is for the charge nurse to be free of an assignment. A crisis RN and an administrative supervisor are available as resources around the clock. Patient Care Technicians provide 24-hour coverage, with a ratio of 1:10. Patients on respiratory support may require oxygen up to 6L via nasal cannula, stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or as needed. Telemetry patients are monitored by a dedicated telemetry department, and equipment is primarily from Phillips. Unit clerks are available for 24-hour coverage. Shifts are organized as 12-hour increments from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holiday hours are rotated among staff. There is no call or standby requirement. Travel RNs may float to other medical/surgical units as necessary. Staff members should provide their own scrubs, which can be of any color. RNs are expected to attempt intravenous starts and utilize available unit resources if they are unsuccessful. Inpatient phlebotomy teams are available for blood draws.
