Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,344 per week in Peoria, IL

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Active Illinois RN License or confirmation that application process has been initiated Certifications: - BLS (AHA) - NIHSS Must-Have: Overall general medicine/surgical experience Description: This position is in a fast-paced department with high patient turnover. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. Common patient diagnoses include stroke, traumas, cardiac issues, and general medicine conditions such as UTI, COPD, and cellulitis. Registered Nurses are not required to titrate drips. There is a Charge Nurse present 24/7 who takes a patient assignment, as well as a House Supervisor available at all times. There are Patient Care Technicians on the unit, with a ratio of 2 on day shifts and 1 on night shifts. Common duties include patient care, vital signs monitoring, glucose checks, and hourly rounding. Bi-pap and C-pap equipment is used on a PRN basis or at night, and high-flow devices are also utilized. House-wide telemetry is in place using a specific brand of monitoring. Registered Nurses are not required to interpret EKG strips. The schedule consists of day shifts from 07:00 to 19:30 and night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. There is a requirement to work 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule, as well as every other holiday. Traveling staff members will float to other departments when needed. This position involves a team nursing approach when floated to a higher level of care if not experienced. Scrubs are not provided, and there is no specific dress code, but pediatric scrub tops should be avoided. Unit-specific orientation will be provided with a preceptor over 1 to 2 shifts. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
