Description:
The Registered Nurse utilizes knowledge from nursing education and experience to deliver nursing care.
Care is delivered using the nursing process according to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
The RN responds to life-threatening situations with appropriate nursing interventions.
The RN organizes care delivery by prioritizing, delegating, delivering, evaluating, and communicating with all necessary providers and leaders.
Specifically, the Orthopedic nurse provides specialized care to patients with musculoskeletal issues.
Care includes managing those recovering from orthopedic surgeries or injuries and managing chronic conditions.
Education of patients and families on care and prevention is also a key responsibility.
Skills required include blood product administration, heparin and insulin management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and more.
The working environment supports interdisciplinary collaboration with various teams including therapy and pharmacy.
The patient population consists of adults with an average daily census of 10.
