License: Current RN license in state of practice required. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor required. Must-Have: Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia class with passing score required. Minimum of 6 months experience in medical surgical nursing in last 2 years preferred. Description: This position is responsible for the pre and post operative/procedure care for patients of all age groups with varied health care needs and disease processes. Focused care includes technical skills, equipment management, assessment, education, and discharge in a fast-paced environment. The RN will recognize common recurring patient problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes. The RN must recognize symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies. This role requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in post operative phase two recovery care. The RN will accurately interpret ECG rhythms and manage care during life-threatening emergencies for the populations served. Knowledge of lead functions and applications is essential, including recommendations for monitoring based on patient presentation. The RN will review medical history, physical examination, nursing care plans, and all available assessment data. Identifying abnormal diagnostic data and reporting it to the appropriate personnel is crucial. Delegation of patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on competency and scope of practice is required. Evaluation of the effectiveness of care performed is a key responsibility. The RN will initiate a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with health care team members. Education of patients and/or their families regarding care is necessary, using teaching methods appropriate to age, condition, culture, and assessed learning-readiness. All nursing care provided must be documented in a legible, accurate, and timely manner. The RN will perform necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks consistently. Additional job-related duties may be assigned as required.
