The unit has a total of 24 beds and a staff of 7. The staffing includes 1 charge nurse and 4 nurses on day shifts, As well as 2 patient care technicians and 1 unit clerk. Night shift staffing includes similar levels. Patient ratios are set at 6:1. Equipment used includes BLS, NIHSS, and EMR systems, specifically Meditech. Typical procedures performed on the unit include: PIV insertion, management, and removal Central line management and removal Foley insertion, management, and removal NG tube management and removal Drain management and removal Wound care and ostomy management Continuous bladder irrigation Chest tube management EKG monitoring Machines and equipment utilized on the unit include: Alaris IV pumps Hoyer lifts Feeding pumps Welch Allyn Vital Sign Machines iMobile Vein Finder Dress code requires royal blue scrubs.
