Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,528 per week in Ellsworth, ME

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medsurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: Guaranteed 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years for RN, 1 year for Tech; Nursing home experience is accepted License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS (preferred for RN) Must-Have: Previous Charge RN experience is highly preferred. Manager is willing to accept travelers without this only if they are willing to be trained as Charge and to work in that capacity as needed during their contract. Skills for RN include: Chest tubes, traches, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCAs, Epidurals (rare), IVABX, Heparin gtts. Reading and interpreting cardiac strips is preferable. Skills for Tech include: ADLs, Feeding, Tray Setup, answering call bells, Vital Signs, blood sugars, ambulating patients, range of motion. Description: Urgent start needed. 12-hour night shifts available. The unit consists of a total of 64 beds. Patient types include total joints (knees, hips, etc.), general med-surg, appendicitis, colectomies, small bowel, urology procedures, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, and diabetes patients, including those with addictions and other medical issues. Patient ratios are 1:5-6 during days for RN and 1:6-7 during nights. For Techs, the ratios are 1:10-12 on both days and nights. Charge nurse takes assignment most shifts. Respiratory therapy available 24/7, along with hospitalists and centralized telemonitoring tech. The facility allows nurses to make two attempts to start their own IVs before seeking assistance for difficult IVs and central lines. Rapid response is attended by the in-house provider, respiratory, ICU ED charge nurses, unit charge and staff nurses, and the nursing supervisor, at a minimum. Nurses may float to ICU for med-surg level patients and ED for task assistance. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. Holiday expectations are 2 out of 4 as needed. Time off must be approved by the manager. Scrub color is any professional color.
