Must-Have Skills:
Must be able to manage heparin drips.
Experience in PCA.
Knowledge of colostomy care and feeding tube care and management.
Ability to administer blood products.
Experience with central line care/management and peripheral line care/management.
Phlebotomy skills.
PICC line management experience.
Competent in IV starts.
Management of dysrhythmias and O2 protocol management.
Non-invasive airway management skills.
Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE.
Experience with traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, surgical drains, and chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac).
Competent in nasal cannula use, oral suctioning, tracheostomy management, and wound care.
Epic documentation experience is required.
Description:
RTO after booking is not allowed.
Any call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation.
Traveler experience is accepted for first-time travelers.
Staff will work with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-7.
The position requires the traveler to be comfortable with these ratios.
Floating to similar units and alternate care locations may be necessary.
The traveler will be assigned to every other weekend.
Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster.
Patients may present with severe injuries to bones, joints, and soft tissue, traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, and neurological trauma/nerve damage.
The unit utilizes systems such as Pyxis and EPIC for documentation.
Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, social services, and pharmacy.
The daily census is approximately 32 patients.
