Description:
The RN Clinical Perioperative Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality and safe patient care.
They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through a Shared Governance Model.
The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model, 5-Star Nursing, and evidence-based practice and research.
It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act.
As a member of the patient services team, the individual is expected to uphold the voice of the patient and support service excellence goals.

Performs the Nursing Process in clinical care using evidence-based practice.
Utilizes analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care and coordinate effective partnerships among caregivers.
Provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
Partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for communication and updates.
Implements current clinical practice standards in patient care.
Teamwork and Collaboration
Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care and respects diverse communication methods.
Demonstrates teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that promotes retention of healthcare team members.
Participates and supports performance improvement initiatives and promotes shared governance at all levels.
Professional Development and Initiative
Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education.
Serves as a preceptor and mentor for other nursing professionals to ensure a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement.
Participates in decision-making processes that involve patient care products and practices.
Ensures compliance with organizational policies that meet legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
Engages in data collection and consults appropriate experts to address clinical practice questions.
Resources and Support
Proactively plans care for patients across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
Participates in the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with other healthcare team members to achieve best practice outcomes.
Supports the effective use of human and material resources.
Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards of conduct.
