Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 Year MS experience required License: Must be in hand prior to start date Certifications: BCLS required NIHSS required Must-Have: Cerner experience preferred Previous charge experience: 1.5 years Patient ratio experience: 1:5-6 Description: Indiana residents are not accepted for this job. First-time travelers are accepted. Every other weekend is required. Floating to other MedSurg units is required. Travelers may also float to the observation unit. The staffing ratio is 1 nurse to 5-6 patients. The patient population includes adults. Common diagnoses include stroke, CHF, dementia/delirium, cellulitis, COPD, psych issues, withdrawal, end-of-life care, Covid, and dialysis. The unit comprises a team of RNs, PCAs, unit secretaries, and a charge nurse. Required skills include blood product administration, central line blood draw, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, isolation precautions, IV insulin protocols, med/surg procedures, nasal cannula management, peripheral line care and management, phlebotomy, and starting and maintaining IVs. Medical and religious exemptions for the flu vaccine are accepted. COVID-19 vaccination is required for all travelers. Candidates must work two out of three major holidays. Two supervisor references are required for submission. Travelers must comply with floating requirements within the hospital.
