Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Evaluates outcomes and consults with specialists as required. Adjusts nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care. Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients. Documents nursing care accurately and consistently. Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over the life span. Provides age-appropriate care to the patients served. Interacts professionally with patients and families. Involves patients and families in developing a mutually agreed-upon plan of care. Reviews, revises, and updates the plan of care daily. Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures adequate supply stock. Demonstrates flexibility and organization while functioning under stress. Meets all departmental specific competencies. Performs housekeeping duties when needed. Assists with patient transportation when required. Adheres to dress code and infection control policies.
