Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Nursing Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 7p - 7A Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR required, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Cardiac Monitoring Sedation Pain Management Chest Tube care Medication Administration Description: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices. Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Applies the nursing process to cardiac monitoring and intervention, sedation, pain management, chest tube care and insertion, medication administration, pre and post cardiac catheterization care, TPN/PPN, KODA access, central lines, COBRA, specialized IV drips and titration, IV therapy, IV ADD, waive testing, and transfusion therapy. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. Provides individualized, age-specific care that supports homeostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiologic functioning. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate and interacts professionally with patients and families. Involves patients and families in the formation of an individualized and mutually agreed upon plan of care. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care and allocates and monitors the work of others. Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures as needed. Responds promptly to changes in workload necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures an adequate stock of supplies. Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations. Meets all departmental specific competencies and adheres to medical policies addressing infection control and safety. Performs other related duties as assigned. Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
