Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment in an acute care hospital setting located in Woodsville, New Hampshire. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse adult patient population.
The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a variety of medical and post-surgical conditions, including general surgery recovery, cardiac issues, respiratory diseases, and withdrawal protocols. This position requires a flexible and adaptable professional capable of working night shifts and potentially floating to other units to support patient care needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical patients.
Monitor patient vital signs, assess conditions, and document observations accurately.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
Manage post-operative care for general surgery patients, including those recovering from hernia repair, resections, cholecystectomy, and amputations.
Care for patients with common medical diagnoses such as atrial fibrillation (afib), congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and those undergoing withdrawal protocols (CIWA).
Identify and respond to potential sepsis cases, initiating appropriate interventions.
Perform essential nursing procedures including phlebotomy, IV starts, and EKG interpretation.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and discharge instructions.
Maintain a clean and safe patient environment, adhering to infection control policies.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum of 2-3 years of recent acute care RN experience.
Proficiency in phlebotomy, IV starts, and EKG interpretation.
Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Equipment: IV pumps, cardiac monitors, EKG machines, electronic health record (EHR) systems.
