Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 8 Hours (23:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 Years Preferred License: Valid California License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic Test-Out Prior to Start Date Description: Med Surg RN needed for night shifts. Epic test-out is required prior to the start date. Failed test results will lead to immediate cancellation. Previous charge experience is preferred. Community hospital experience is a plus. LTAC experience is preferred. Trauma Level I experience is preferred. Charting system experience with Epic is required. Required skills include accessing and managing ports and administration of chemotherapy. Experience in arterial line management and BiPAP/CPAP management is advantageous. Candidates should have experience in blood product administration, central line care, and chest tube management. Experience with CVA and feeding tube care is necessary. Knowledge of heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, and interpretation of arterial blood gases is beneficial. Ability to manage dysrhythmias and use of rapid response/code teams is expected. Experience with telemetry monitoring on the unit and remote monitoring is needed. Wound care and management, including the use of wound vacs, is required. Must have experience managing total joint replacements, tracheostomy care, and spinal cord injuries. Candidates should have knowledge of pre/post hemodialysis management and post-neurosurgery care. Ideal candidates will have experience with IV insulin protocols and PCA administration. Patient ratios are expected to be 5 per nurse. Daily census will range between 30-40 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidate must have strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage a diverse patient population. Strong communication skills are essential. This position may require weekend coverage.
