Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med-Surg patients on a 14-bed unit
- Assess patient condition and respond quickly to changes in status
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and coordinate treatments safely
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and execute patient care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures and discharge plans
- Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately and promptly
- Support unit throughput by coordinating admissions, discharges and transfers efficiently
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice or compact license preferred)
- Minimum Med-Surg clinical experience preferred (prior Med-Surg unit work is a plus)
- BLS required; ACLS and other certifications encouraged where applicable
- Comfortable with a 1:5 patient ratio on a busy 14-bed Med-Surg unit
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
- Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and prioritize care
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
- Skilled at patient/family education and discharge planning
