Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour nights per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (NOC); weekends and float required

Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate nursing care to inpatient oncology patients, including post-surgical care and complex chemo management
- Administer chemotherapy safely via continuous infusion and IV push, monitor for reactions and manage extravasation or cytotoxic spills
- Use Epic for accurate, timely documentation and Pyxis for medication management
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab results and escalate care for oncologic emergencies
- Educate and support patients and families about treatments, side effect management and advance care planning
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, manage symptoms and optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain isolation precautions and neutropenic precautions to protect vulnerable patients
- Participate in weekend coverage and float assignments as needed to ensure continuous high-quality care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Minimum 3+ years of inpatient oncology nursing experience required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; CHEMO certification required (ONS/ONCC preferred)
- Experience with Epic charting and Pyxis medication systems
- Comfortable with 3x12 night schedules, weekends and floating to other areas
- Ability to manage a patient ratio of approximately 1:3 and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required unless you have a medical or religious exemption
Knowledge & Skills
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring, including continuous infusions and oral agents
- Body fluid handling after chemotherapy and safe cytotoxic spill management
- IV therapy, central line and port care, PICC line management
- Recognition and management of oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, sepsis and spinal cord compression
- Medication knowledge: antiemetics, antibiotics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy and Neupogen
- Strong SBAR communication and telephone triage skills
- Symptom management, wound care, tracheostomy and chest tube management
- Comfort with isolation precautions, neutropenic safety and phlebotomy
