Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a Medical Surgical unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio on a 14-bed unit
Manage a diverse patient population including diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, DVT, ETOH, wound care, post-surgical, and amputation/debridement cases
Administer and monitor medications including Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin
Support patients requiring CPAP and BiPAP (BiPAP nights only); monitored patients on unit; nurses not required to read strips
Rotate assignments with permanent staff and float to acute care, cardiology, or EC as needed for patient holds
Practice Primary Care Nursing with a strong emphasis on patient safety, satisfaction, and quality of care
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in good standing
Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical experience
Minimum 1 prior travel assignment required
BLS certification required
NIHSS certification required
Experience in a large, high-acuity, fast-paced acute care facility (no Critical Access Hospital experience accepted in lieu of this requirement)
Preferred Experience / Skills
ACLS certification preferred
Experience with dialysis patients and wound care in an acute care setting
Demonstrated ability to manage high patient turnover with strong attention to patient safety and satisfaction
