Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Night Shift)

Austin, TX | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Expected 3 shifts/week | 4 weekend shifts per month | No call requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 28-bed Medical Surgical unit with patient ratios of 5:1 to 6:1
• Utilize telemetry monitoring and unit equipment including Video EEG, Hoyer Lift, Bladder Scanner, and Vital Sign Machines
• Document and manage patient records using Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Charge Nurses and Patient Care Technicians on night shift
• Monitor and assess patients, including those requiring NIHSS and telemetry evaluation

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Telemetry competency required
• Minimum 1 year of hospital experience

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 3 or more years of nursing experience
• Experience in epilepsy care or neurology settings
• Receptive to feedback and demonstrates an ownership mentality in patient care
