Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Boise, ID

Contract | Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on a 35-bed Medical Surgical floor with nurse-to-patient ratios of generally 1:5, with select patient populations at 1:4 (e.g., neck dissections, facial reconstructions, epilepsy patients)
• Care for a diverse patient population including orthopedic (total joints, traumatic fractures), ENT (thyroid surgeries, neck dissections with implanted dopplers, trachs, facial reconstructions), ophthalmology, general MedSurg (appendectomies, cholecystectomies, pneumonia, COPD), sepsis, and high-flow O2 patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings independently; perform 30-minute doppler checks as required for applicable post-surgical patients
• Manage pediatric overflow patients who qualify under adult ACLS weight criteria, administered under adult medication dosing protocols
• Administer and manage set-rate drips including heparin; operate and monitor high-flow oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment
• Float to like Medical Surgical units at sister facilities as needed

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to read and independently interpret telemetry/cardiac monitor readings
• Willingness to float to like Medical Surgical units as assigned
• Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed to fill scheduling gaps

• Experience with post-surgical orthopedic, ENT, or reconstructive patient populations
• Familiarity with epilepsy monitoring protocols or EEG/video monitoring environments
• Experience managing high-flow oxygen therapy, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment
• Strong communication skills and willingness to engage with unit educators and leadership for ongoing learning

• Supportive unit structure with a non-patient-carrying charge nurse, assistant managers actively present on the floor, and a dedicated unit-based educator available daily
