Travel RN – Medical Surgical / Surgical Unit (Night Shift)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Expected 36 hours/week | 13-week assignment (extension up to 26 weeks may be available upon request)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to post-surgical patients including urology, orthopedic, and general surgery, as well as medical overflow
• Develop nursing diagnoses, establish care objectives, and define nursing interventions tailored to each patient
• Provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families, including education on conditions, medications, and self-care
• Monitor patients for changing conditions and needs, and re-evaluate care objectives accordingly
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:6 on a 23-bed surgical unit utilizing EPIC EMR and standard equipment including IV pumps
• Float as needed within Med-Surg and Progressive care areas per customary float requirements; willingness to take on charge nurse responsibilities is required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Missouri
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Post-surgical experience required (post-recovery, not OR) — urology, orthopedic, and/or general surgery background
• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; exemptions must receive client approval prior to placement
• Candidates are expected to work every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) unless otherwise approved prior to confirmation
• Candidates should be prepared to work at least one major summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day) or one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Peri-dialysis experience
• Prior charge nurse experience or demonstrated leadership ability
• Strong team-player mentality with excellent communication skills
