Travel RN – Medical Surgical Neurosciences (Night Shift)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 weeks (up to 26 weeks upon request) | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Expected 36 hours/week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans for medical and surgical neuroscience patients, including those with Parkinson's, stroke, and lumbar conditions (no trauma)
• Monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions; administer medications, wound care, and other personalized interventions while monitoring for reactions or side effects
• Perform and maintain IV therapy competency, including care for central lines; utilize IV pumps and other customary unit equipment within an EPIC EMR environment
• Assume or support charge nurse duties as needed; provide appropriate supervision and delegation to unlicensed assistive personnel and ancillary staff
• Maintain patient safety standards including safety huddles, bedside shift report, and adherence to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals
• Float to Med Surg and Progressive units as needed per customary float requirements; attend Neuroscience Nursing course as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Missouri
• BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (may be completed at orientation)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Charge nurse experience, or willingness to learn and take on charge duties
• Flu vaccination required for assignments running November 1 – April 1 (exemptions must be client-approved)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Neuro and stroke nursing experience highly preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR
• Strong team collaboration, communication skills, and patient-centered approach
