Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a 24-bed Medical Surgical unit that serves as the facility's designated stroke unit, maintaining a patient ratio of 1:5 on days/evenings
- Administer medications including heparin, cardizem, and amiodarone per care protocols
- Deliver specialized care to neurology (stroke) patients and, as needed, oncology patients
- Float between the Medical Surgical unit and Stepdown as unit needs require
- Participate in charge or preceptor responsibilities as assigned
- Adhere to required dress code of solid navy or black tops and bottoms
Required Qualifications- Active Iowa RN license (Nursys verification required)
- Minimum of 12 months of Medical Surgical clinical experience
- Minimum of 18 months of total nursing experience in a hospital or medical center setting
- 24 months of current experience in Medical Surgical, oncology, or neurology documented on work history/resume
- Experience administering heparin, cardizem, and amiodarone
- Experience caring for neurology patients, specifically in a stroke care setting
- Active AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid driver's license
- Discipline-specific skills checklist (Medical Surgical, oncology, or neurology)
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience with EPIC EMR
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (can be obtained during onboarding)
- De-Escalation certification such as SAMA, MAB, MOAB, or CPI (can be obtained during onboarding)
- Experience caring for oncology patients
