    TravelNurseSource is working with Concentric Healthcare Staffing to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Council Bluffs, Iowa, 51503!

    Job Title

    Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Orthopedics

    Location

    Council Bluffs, IA

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Shifts: 6:30 AM–7:00 PM / 6:30 PM–7:00 AM | Every third weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights)

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Orthopedic unit with a patient population including total joint replacements, COPD, diabetes, CHF, sepsis, pneumonia, oncology, fractures, and behavioral health/addiction cases
    • Maintain a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio with support from patient care technicians
    • Administer and monitor set-rate and titratable drips including heparin, IV antibiotics, antithrombotics, and narcotics
    • Conduct hourly rounding and participate in bedside shift report
    • Float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and behavioral health unit as needed
    • Complete unit-specific orientation including classroom training and on-unit shift experience
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills examination with a score of 90% or higher during orientation
    • Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
    • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in Medical Surgical or Orthopedic nursing
    • Comfort working with diverse patient populations including those with mental health and/or substance use histories
    • Self-directed, adaptable, and open to working in a dynamic unit environment
