Provide direct patient care on a 37-bed Medical Surgical unit with a night shift patient ratio of 1:5–6
Manage and monitor patients with common diagnoses including COPD, sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and post-surgical cases (hips, knees, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, bowel resections)
Administer and monitor IV drip therapies; most common drips on the unit include Lasix and Heparin
Care for telemetry patients in coordination with a central monitor technician, with strip visualization available on the floor
Care for patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen support (no ventilator patients on this unit)
Collaborate with in-house hospitalists, APN night coverage, eHospitalist, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), and pharmacy support; may float to other floors based on demonstrated competency
Required Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
BLS certification required
Proficiency with EPIC EMR
Ability to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays as scheduled
Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local rate adjustment
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior Medical Surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting
Experience with telemetry monitoring and common Med-Surg drip management
Familiarity with post-surgical patient populations and respiratory support modalities (BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow)
