Job Summary

Join a dedicated healthcare team in Juneau, Alaska, as an Outpatient Registered Nurse. This role is integral to the efficient operation of a busy ambulatory care clinic, providing essential support to both patients and medical staff within the outpatient department.

The Outpatient RN is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical services, ensuring efficient resource utilization, and maintaining compliance with established standards. This includes direct patient care, clinic oversight, and collaborative efforts with providers and interdepartmental teams to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical services and direct patient care within an outpatient setting.
• Collaborate with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure exceptional quality of care and service delivery.
• Oversee daily clinic operations, including front desk functions and patient flow, to ensure efficiency.
• Maintain accurate medication inventory and manage supplies not on the central PAR system.
• Perform necessary quality control checks for Point of Care (POC) tests.
• Accurately and timely document all patient care and services provided.
• Assist providers and other staff by anticipating needs to facilitate efficient and quality patient care.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to serve as a resource for patients, providers, and clinic staff.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year of acute care experience.

• Clinical Skills:
  • Proficiency in the nursing process and its application in an ambulatory care environment.
  • Ability to complete patient assessments, anticipate needs, and perform specimen collection.
  • Competence in performing quality control checks for Point of Care (POC) tests.
  • Ability to maintain medication inventory and manage clinic supplies.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to safety and infection control principles.
  • Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years.
  • High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year.

Licensing Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska.
