Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Safely administer medications including heparin drips and occasional PCA medications in accordance with state practice standards and facility policies.
Manage care for primarily orthopedic patients (backs, necks, hips, knees), post-operative bariatric surgery patients, and some trauma and general medical patients.
Monitor and manage surgical drains including Hemovac, True-close, and JP drains, and assist with safe patient movement and positioning post-operatively.
Serve as point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments, advocating for patient safety and quality improvement.
Collaborate with LPN team members and support staff; communicate effectively with patients, families, and all members of the care team.
Required Qualifications
Current RN license in state of practice or covered under a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
Dysrhythmia Exam required prior to start (study guide available).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with patients and multidisciplinary staff.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with post-operative orthopedic patients including backs, hips, and knees, and familiarity with surgical drain management.
Experience with Alaris infusion pumps and EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR).
CCRN or PCCN certification preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
