Perform basic patient assessments and provide general care for a 36-bed Medical Surgical unit with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
Manage and maintain wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, and support patients experiencing strokes or seizures
Administer and monitor Heparin drips, PCA pumps, and dialysis support as needed for the patient population
Provide post-operative care for patients following amputations, ostomy procedures, oral surgeries, chest tube placements, and wound vac application
Conduct bedside shift reports, perform safety checks every 1–2 hours, and maintain 100% medication scanning including controlled substances
Adhere to HAI prevention protocols including CVC and Foley monitoring, fall prevention measures, and standard precautions
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
Current BLS certification
Current NIHSS certification
Proficiency with Meditech documentation system
Ability to commit to 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling block and float over core staff as needed
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience operating PD Cyclers, Alaris IV Pumps, Hoyer Lifts, and Welch Allyn VS Carts
Familiarity with post-operative patient care including wound vacs and chest tube management
Experience with dialysis patient care and PCA pump management
