Schedule / Job TypeContract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-Hour Shifts) | 36 Guaranteed Hours Per Week
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Medical-Surgical Observation unit, managing a patient population that includes chest pain, abdominal pain, CVA/TIA, generalized weakness, and geri-psych placement cases
- Administer and monitor stable drips including heparin, Lasix, and Protonix, and perform peripheral IV insertions
- Conduct thorough patient assessments utilizing strong critical thinking skills to identify changes in patient condition and respond appropriately
- Float within skillset to other campus locations as needed, with a minimum of 2 hours notice provided for cross-campus float assignments
- Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements, including three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
- May be required to precept nursing students and new hires in a teaching environment
Required Qualifications- Current, active RN Compact License required
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum of two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience required
- At least one prior travel assignment required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience caring for observation-status patients including CVA/TIA and geri-psych populations
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, work resiliently in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented, professional approach
