Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Medical Stroke unit with an average daily census of 26–28 patients and capacity up to 35 beds
Manage a patient assignment of 5–6 patients with support from Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
Care for patients presenting with conditions including COPD, pneumonia, abdominal pain, stroke, and occasional surgical overflow including thyroidectomy
Provide post-TPA stroke care and support for lower-level stroke patients
Document and communicate patient status accurately using the facility's electronic health record system
Required Qualifications
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in West Virginia or a compact state
Current BLS certification
Prior experience in a Medical Surgical setting
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with stroke patients, including post-TPA care
NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification or working knowledge
Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
Prior travel nursing experience
