Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Medical Stroke unit with an average daily census of 26–28 patients and capacity to flex up to 35 beds
Manage a patient ratio of 1:5–6 with support from Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
Care for patients presenting with conditions including COPD, pneumonia, abdominal pain, stroke, and occasional surgical overflow including thyroidectomy
Assist in the care of post-TPA stroke patients and lower-level stroke cases
Accurately perform or support NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) assessments as applicable
Required Qualifications
Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in West Virginia or a compact state
Current BLS certification
Experience in a Medical Surgical inpatient setting
Preferred Experience / Skills
NIHSS certification or demonstrated experience caring for stroke patients
Proficiency with Epic EMR
Prior travel nursing experience
