Contract | Days | Full-Time | Onsite | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a 56-bed Adult Medical Specialty Unit managing acute general medical diagnoses including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health and addiction cases
Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 during day hours and 1:5–6 during night hours, collaborating with PCTs who assist with vital signs, accuchecks, bladder scans, and ADLs
Manage and monitor central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes as part of routine patient care
Administer and monitor set-rate drips including Heparin and Lasix; titration of drips is not required
Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, inhalers, and suctioning as needed
Float as needed to other acute care general medical areas including nephrology, neuro, ortho, and oncology
Required Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Hands-on experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free campus policy
Willingness to adhere to professional dress code including any-color professional scrubs, no visible tattoos, and no visible piercings except ears
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior travel nursing experience on a Medical Surgical floor
Experience with EPIC electronic health records
Experience in a Level I Trauma Center (may substitute for travel experience when combined with EPIC proficiency)
