Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on an 18-bed Medical Surgical Acute Care unit serving general medical patients with a variety of diagnoses
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 5–6:1 on night shifts, with support from Patient Care Technicians
- Titrate Heparin drips and manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC, as well as stable BiPAP/CPAP
- Perform IV starts and coordinate with inpatient phlebotomy and pharmacy teams as needed
- Monitor telemetry remotely through the house-wide telemetry department using Philips equipment
- Float to other units as needed; travel RNs are first to float per unit policy
Required Qualifications- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free campus policy
- Willingness to work every other weekend (Friday/Saturday nights) and participate in holiday rotation
Preferred Experience / Skills- Minimum 1 year of hospital-based nursing experience
- ACLS certification (preferred for Charge RN consideration)
- Familiarity with Heparin drip titration and telemetry monitoring
