Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients including those with diagnoses such as pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical cases, total joints, and general surgery, with occasional pediatric respiratory cases
Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on nights, ensuring safe and effective patient care across an 18–22 bed unit
Conduct minimum three daily touchpoints with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to oversee and collaborate on nursing cares including Foley care, CHG bathing, oral care, and plan of care updates
Monitor and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitoring systems, supported by virtual central telemetry monitoring
Manage patients on high-flow oxygen and stable home-regimen BiPAP as needed
Maintain active Illinois RN license and comply with facility drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels
Required Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
Ability to monitor and interpret telemetry strips independently
Willingness to float to ICU for general acute overflow patients or to a campus approximately 25 miles away based on staffing need (minimum 2-hour advance notice provided for off-site float)
Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
Preferred Experience / Skills
Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical RN experience preferred
Previous travel nursing experience preferred
PALS certification preferred
Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly in collaborating with PCT staff to ensure comprehensive patient care
