Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Travel | Full-Time | Onsite | Nights | 3x12 shifts, 36 guaranteed hours per week

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide optimal patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing services to patients presenting with a wide variety of disease processes including renal, hepatic, respiratory, cardiac, neurologic, psychiatric, and infectious diseases
  • Diagnose and treat human responses to health problems while demonstrating age-specific competencies for the population served
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members and other healthcare professionals as needed
  • Maintain accountability for individualized patient outcomes over an entire episode of care, incorporating family and caregivers into the care plan where appropriate
  • Float to other units within scope of competency as organizational needs require; may be asked to pick up one additional shift per scheduling period (every 4 weeks)
Required Qualifications
  • Active Nevada Registered Nurse (RN) license required prior to start date
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced acute care environment
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on department needs
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience caring for patients with COPD, sepsis, diabetes, cellulitis, pneumonia, or ETOH withdrawal
  • Prior experience in a large, high-acuity inpatient setting such as a Level I or Level II Trauma Center
  • Comfort working with a diverse adult patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients
