    Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical

    Location

    Roanoke Rapids, NC

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 3x12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a 36-bed Medical/Surgical unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, utilizing a primary nursing care delivery model
    • Manage and monitor patients presenting with diagnoses including stroke, GI bleed, acute kidney injury, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, CHF, diabetes, hip/ankle fractures, oncology, and post-operative care
    • Assist providers with and/or perform bedside procedures including chest tube setup and care, wound vacs, thoracentesis, paracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomy care, central line care, CBI, CPAP/BiPap, and incision and debridement
    • Administer and monitor medications including heparin, Lasix/Bumex drips, Cardizem/Lopressor/Labetalol IV push, Coumadin, Lovenox, insulin, and TPN/PPN
    • Utilize EPIC for all computerized charting and documentation
    • Float to other nursing areas as needed based on census and unit requirements
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • NIHSS certification required
    • Proficiency in IV insertion
    • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
    • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts in an onsite, acute care environment
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior travel nursing experience
    • Experience assisting providers with bedside procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertion, and central line placement
    • Familiarity with equipment including Alaris IV pumps, Omni feeding pumps, and Welch-Allyn vital signs machines
