Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments across the lifespan and develop individualized plans of care for patients with acute, chronic, and post-operative conditions
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition with appropriate interventions or escalation of care
• Apply independent nursing judgment and critical thinking consistent with the Alaska Board of Nursing scope of practice, including determining priorities, interventions, and when provider consultation is required
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and ensure continuity of services
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities; provide guidance, delegation, and mentoring to ancillary staff and peers as needed

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required at time of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association required (experienced nurses must provide evidence at time of hire; new graduates must obtain within 6 months)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association required (experienced nurses must provide evidence at time of hire; new graduates must obtain within 6 months)
• High-Risk Competency validation required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter; Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months and every 3 years

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Medical-Surgical or acute care inpatient setting
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems
• Experience managing fluctuating patient acuity and floating to multiple care areas
• Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care
