Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Clinical Resource

Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments across the lifespan and develop individualized plans of care for patients with acute, chronic, and post-operative conditions
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition with appropriate interventions or escalation of care
Apply independent nursing judgment and critical thinking consistent with the Alaska Board of Nursing scope of practice, including determining priorities, interventions, and when provider consultation is required
Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and ensure continuity of services
Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record
Participate in quality and performance improvement activities; provide guidance, delegation, and mentoring to ancillary staff and peers as needed
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required at time of hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association required (experienced nurses must provide evidence at time of hire; new graduates must obtain within 6 months)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association required (experienced nurses must provide evidence at time of hire; new graduates must obtain within 6 months)
High-Risk Competency validation required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter; Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months and every 3 years
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in a Medical-Surgical or acute care inpatient setting
Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems
Experience managing fluctuating patient acuity and floating to multiple care areas
Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care
