Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups, including post-surgical and medically complex patients.
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort.
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and maintain professional accountability.
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Operate unit equipment including Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps, wound vacs, PCA pumps, SCD machines, low air loss mattresses, and remote telemetry monitors.
- May be floated to other units based on staffing needs.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license; must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold a Missouri RN license.
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient Medical Surgical experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only.
- Flu vaccination (or facility-approved exemption) required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted.
- Must be available the entire first week for day-shift orientation (night shift orients on days).
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only.
- TNCC certification.
- Experience with Oncology, Neuro Surgical recovery, or surgical patient populations (GI, GU, Plastics, Overflow Ortho).
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR.
