Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on a 27-bed Medical Surgical unit with a night-shift nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 (max 1:7)
  • Care for a diverse patient population including orthopedic post-operative patients (knee, hip, and shoulder replacements), general surgery patients (hemicolectomy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair), and GU procedure patients (TURBT, TURP, bladder biopsy)
  • Administer blood transfusions, manage PCA pumps, perform wound vac changes, and titrate Heparin drips per protocol
  • Apply and troubleshoot high-flow respiratory equipment as patient condition warrants; collaborate with respiratory therapy for CPAP and BiPAP management
  • Review telemetry strip interpretations faxed from the monitor tech and document findings in the EMR
  • Collaborate with Patient Care Technicians and charge nurses; float to other Medical Surgical, MS-Tele, or IMC units on a rotating basis as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license — any licensing history or hits must be disclosed at time of submission
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience with blood transfusions, PCA pumps, and wound vac changes
  • Ability to titrate Heparin drips per protocol
  • Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; valid, unexpired driver's license required and must be submitted with application
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience in a Medical Surgical setting with orthopedic, general surgery, or GU patient populations
  • Familiarity with post-peripheral intervention and dialysis catheter insertion patient care
  • Experience documenting in an electronic medical records (EMR) system
