- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks, with holiday coverage needs
- Schedule: 3 or 4 night shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, subject to scheduling needs
- Patient Population: Critically ill adult patients, including COVID ICU patients
- Unit Profile: Approximately 11 beds with an average daily census of 7 patients
Travel ICU Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- At least 2 years of recent Medical ICU (MICU) or comparable critical care nursing experience
- At least 1 year of recent experience using Epic electronic medical record (EMR)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Demonstrated experience caring for mechanically ventilated patients and managing continuous IV sedation
- Strong skills in interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
- Ability to float to qualified, comparable units or nearby care settings when needed
- Availability to complete required orientation, compliance activities, and pre-assignment learning modules
- Flu vaccination is required for this assignment
Medical ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the MICU
- Assess patient conditions, recognize changes in clinical status, and initiate appropriate interventions
- Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage continuous IV sedation therapies
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and support the management of dysrhythmias
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient response
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members
- Support care for patients with complex diagnoses, including those requiring COVID ICU-level monitoring
- Float to other qualified units or care settings as requested based on census and patient-care needs
- Participate in weekend and holiday coverage according to the assignment schedule
