Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,820

- Healthcare Setting: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Shifts Per Week: Typically 3 shifts per week, with 4-shift schedules possible based on coverage needs
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, subject to unit needs
- Patient Population: Critically ill adult patients, including COVID ICU patients
- Unit Capacity: Approximately 11 beds with an average daily census of 7 patients
- Documentation System: Epic
- Floating: Required to qualified units or nearby campuses when needed
MICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- At least 2 years of recent experience in an intensive care unit or Medical Intensive Care Unit setting
- At least 1 year of recent Epic electronic health record experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Demonstrated experience caring for mechanically ventilated patients
- Competence with continuous IV sedation and the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Ability to float to other qualified units or locations as requested
- Flexibility to provide weekend and holiday coverage
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to safe, compassionate patient care
MICU Travel RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit
- Assess patient conditions, recognize changes in clinical status, and respond promptly to critical needs
- Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage complex respiratory support needs
- Administer and monitor continuous IV sedation and other high-acuity medications
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and initiate appropriate interventions for dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
- Support safe patient transitions, patient education, and continuity of care
- Float to qualified units or nearby campuses when census and staffing needs require
