Job Opportunity – Postpartum Registered Nurse – Ohio
Start Date: November 2, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 36-hour orientation period; weekend coverage required; two pre-approved time-off requests available; may float to units of similar acuity as needed
Highlights:
- 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit providing family-centered care to mothers and newborns
- Daily census of approximately 60 patients including postpartum mothers, healthy newborns, and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) infants
- EPIC charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Diverse case mix including vaginal and cesarean deliveries, postpartum readmissions, wound infections, preeclampsia management, and level 1 nursery care
- Telemetry interpretation required; EKG exam must be passed prior to start date
- Travel and local candidates accepted; former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility
Requirements:
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience required
- Labor and delivery (L&D) experience required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- IV start skills and IV certification required
- EPIC electronic medical record experience required
- Telemetry interpretation skills required; must pass EKG exam prior to start
- Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership; charge RN acceptable for second reference)
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
Key Clinical Skills:
- Couplet care and newborn assessment
- Postpartum hemorrhage management and fundus/lochia/perineum care
- Magnesium sulfate therapy and pregnancy-induced hypertension management
- Administration of blood products, insulin drips, and heparin protocols
- Cesarean section and episiotomy/incision care
- Breastfeeding instruction and use of electric/manual breast pumps
- Management of neonatal abstinence syndrome, phototherapy, and newborn hypoglycemia
- Starting and maintaining IVs, IV antibiotics, and medication administration
- Patient and family discharge teaching including circumcision care and cord care
